This website was first established to communicate my concern over the undermining of The John Birch Society, which began covertly in about April 2005, and culminated in a successful coup on October 21, 2005.
As in a political overthrow, the winner takes immediate control of the media and circulates propaganda favorable to the new regime. The self-appointed takeover team has done just that. Through the official pages of the JBS Bulletin, and formal mailings, they have created, as the communists do, many lies including the semblance of popular support for throwing out the legitimate officers: Vance Smith, CEO; Tom Gow, VP, and top members of the Executive Committee, Wayne Rickert, Walt Ruckel, and Keith Van Buskirk. In the process, they have abolished the monolithic structure created by Robert Welch.
The takeover of the Society was dishonest, disgraceful, and devastating. It has done irreparable damage to the nation’s only organization capable of saving America and preserving the Constitution.
I am personally acquainted with all of the men who were thrown out. I have worked side-by-side with them. They are hard working, dedicated stalwarts of patriotism and the most competent leaders we have ever had. They have been stripped of all authority over the JBS, but by the grace of God, they have retained control of Robert Welch University.
This website is the result of my offer to help exonerate these men, shed some light on what has happened, and to do everything in my power to restore responsible leadership to the JBS. One year has passed since I began this effort. And I might note at this point that, contrary to assertions made by the takeover team, this website is my own undertaking, paid for with my own money, and set up by an independent contractor whom I also pay. This is my modest contribution to what has been a monumental sacrifice for the officers named above.
During the past year I have urged the JBS Council to restore the monolithic structure and return the Executive Committee to its pre-October 2005 authority. The Council has not acted, and while waiting for some sign of integrity much valuable time has been lost. We have a country to save and a tough battle ahead.
Neither I nor any of the "exiled" leaders intend to turn our backs on America, or on any JBS member who is serious about waging an effective, well-directed fight for freedom. Our vigilance remains undaunted, and we are determined to move forward with a newly organized force against the enemies of America. But the details of a new freedom organization are still in the making. Therefore, I will continue this website as a temporary means of keeping you posted.
We are building a true Robert Welch-type structure that will employ 21st century procedures. Until the new organization is ready to launch, we will be operating as the RWU Freedom Committee. Your non-tax-deductible contributions are greatly needed at this point to help create membership materials, programs, and guidelines. Please mail your donations to RWU Freedom Committee, 2 Systems Drive, Appleton, WI 54914.
I urge you to read Tom Gow’s “A Rebuttal” to the takeover team’s "Twelve Points to Consider About the 2005 Changes in Leadership at JBS." Other important information and documents are found under headings in the left margin.
